Black Labrador Retriever - Medium - Adult - Female - Dog - MOLLY
Molly is a young, beautiful black lab female who was dumped in an industrial pipe storage yard in South Texas, extremely pregnant, and in the 100 degree heat She gave birth to puppies there, and soon, animal control was called. The nice animal control officer at her pound wanted to euthanize the entire family because he didn't want puppies in the pound because they can get sick and are messy. We begged for a couple days to try to find a foster home for them. Thank goodness we found a caring family who was willing to share their home with Molly and the pups, and so we were able to save the entire little family. Two pups died while at the pound as it is outdoors and the heat was just too much for the pups, as pups can't regulate their temperature. 5 survived. Molly, the mom, was scared to death when we first rescued her. She was used to being on her own after being dumped, scrounging for food, etc. and so she intially tried to hide from us, and would hoard and hide her food and other "resources." Within a couple days of being at her foster home, Molly realized that her nightmare was over, and that she was being cared for by a loving foster family. Her personality began to blossom, and her fears melted away. Molly has come out of her shell completely now that she's been in her foster home for 3 weeks. Her foster mom says that she is housetrained and "is such a good mother. She watches over them, cleans up after them, checks on each one frequently, changes sides between nursing, and when Dora (the little explorer) gets under the bed or stuck between the crate and the bed and cries- she goes to her rescue (many times!!)! She is so good at being a mother!I " Molly's foster mom was so relieved to see that unlike some dogs who display aggressive tendencies when afraid, Molly, despite her fear and maternal instincts to protect her puppies at first, only showed submission, and the urge to hide. Her foster mom said that Molly is submissive, beautiful, and sweet and "she stole my heart very quickly." She will now walk on the leash (once we help her out of her bed)!! She will also come to you when you call her. Molly will be spayed, fully vetted, up to date on shots, and ready for her new home soon. It's time that she learned to enjoy life, and have a happy, easy life, with a family that loves her. Adoption fee is $250; to apply, please go to www.labrescuenetwork.com and fill out an application.
